Hey guys I just noticed this white band around the back of my female guppy. Can you guys let me know what it is? I think it is ick but I'm not sure.

ich are small white spots, they dont usually form a band, might be fungus though

What does it look like? does it look like a ball of fluff? If yes then it is fungus. If it is fungus get some fungus treatment and isolate the fish if possible.

After further research I have determined (along with the LFS) that it is columnaris and am treating with Triple Sulfa.
Thanks for the help.

I agree with the columnarius and think it's wisest to follow the route you have going. Please don't forget to post back to let us know if this is the case.

Absolutely. I did a 50% water change and then added the meds. The infected fish seemed to do a little better after that. Its been a few hours now and she no longer stays in the top corner so I think it looks promising.

UPDATE:
Well today I went to a water change and redose the medicine per the directions on the box. But first I decided to see how she was doing, since yesterday she was looking better. I look in the tank this morning...
AND SHE'S GONE! :thud: I don't know what happened to her but she's gone. I checked under all the decorations and moved some gravel around and couldn't find her. So I did a water change to see if maybe I missed her and still nothing.
Since my other two guppies aren't showing any signs of columnaris I'm just going to stop medicating and let my filter and the water changes remove the rest of the meds. Thanks for the help though.
EDIT: Forgot to say the tank has a lid so I'm thinking she probably couldn't jump out but
