Okay, I've got most of my stuff for my CO2 rig ordered and in the mail, so the next thing I'm thinking about is a CO2 defuser and I was wondering if you guys wouldnt mind me bouncing an idea off you.

I was thinking of making an inline defuser to work with my fluval 204 and it occured to me that if I designed it correctly there was scope to make it an inline heater as well (and remove another ugly device from the tank).

What I was thinking was that I could make the standard "pipe bomb" style defuser but instead of adding media I run the water through coiled tubing around the inside of the pipe and inject the CO2 directly into the coil. Then if I feed the heater into the center of the pipe I end up with what is essentially a small radiator which should allow for reasonably efficient heating.

The problem is that I dont know if Im being naive because it sounds too easy.

So your planning to put the CO2 reactor into the 204's outlet right?

That should work, but if you are planning to put it into the inlet, then I would go another route.

I have the same filter but decided the best bet was to use a bubble counter/check valve and red sea 500, this way I could shut the reactor off with the lights, and identify when it is time to change the CO2 tank (2L bottle).

I like your idea of the heater but I'm curious as to how you are going to run the cord out of it.

I was planning to remove the plug and run the cable through a drilled and sealed hole in one of the end caps.

That said I am planning to go with having the device on the inlet and I would be interested in hearing how you're currently set up.
