stocking question

Ok could I have cichlids in a either a 20 gallon or a 30 gallon tall tank?
My mom saw this nice cichlid tank and she really liked them.
I have an empty 20 gallon tank. All I have to do is a get a heater filter and hood lol. Anyway, I was thinking of setting up the 20 gallon and move my community fish to the 20 gallon and then put cichlids in the 30 gallon.
Now I know most cichlids get about 4 to 5 inches. Is there any dwarf cichlids? The cichlids that my mom liked are african cichlids.

cichlids are probaly the largest group in this hobby so you have many to pick from. i have herd convicts are good for 30 gals, and if you check out Species Profiles at the top of this page you will find dwarf cichlids

Hello,

The following is a list of cichlids that I think would do good in a 30 gallon: Rams, Agassiz's Dwarf Cichlid, Golden Dwarf Cichlid, Cockatoo Dwarf Cichlid, Chessboard Cichlid, Signatus(a lake Tanganika shelldweller), and a Umbrella Dwarf Cichlid. You probably could have Convicts too. This is just some of the cichlids you could have for a 30 gallon.
