I have a 55g and had it up and running for about three years. I did a lot of things wrong, so what lighting should I have in a all fish tank?
The fish I have are Key Hole Angel, Atlantic Blue Tang, Algee Benny, Cleaner Wrasse and about a dozen Hermit Crabs. What should be next? Thanks for all your help:confused:

The lighting in a FO tank is really up to you. A single or double flourescent strip will provide enough light for tank to be enjoyable to look at, but not be too expensive. You only really need to worry about the lighting if you ever decide to keep anything that is photosynthetic.

I wouldn't add any more fish because you will have to upgrade tanks sometime soon at the current stocking level. The Blue tang will be too active and grow to large for the 55 gallon. The Key Hole is the largest of the Pygmy (Centropyge) clan reaching about 6 inches. The algae blenny will get about 4-5 and the Cleaner will get about 3. If you traded in the Tang it would be a different story but I think adding any more fish would stress the Tang and cause an ich outbreak. Sorry about the bad news, but it will save you money and keep your fish healthy in the long run. Hope this helps.

I appreciate the info. I was wonder about it. Is there a good book I could read on water quality?
