Coralline algae does need calcium to grow. It's best to keep up with calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium levels to have balanced water chemistry (and see the best results).

I don't use a calcium reactor, but there's only softies and some LPS corals in our tank. I use Seachem Reef Advantage Calcium for our 90g reef. It helps to maintain magnesium levels as well as adding calcium. For alkalinity, I use Seachem Reef Builder. But, there are others available, including several 2-part solutions and even recipes for making your own homemade additives.

Your corals will absorb the calicum in the tank along with the coralline alage. And if you check out garf.org and click on the bulletproof tank and then click on calculator you type in your tanks dimensions and it will tell you what types of buffers, and how much to use and when to use it.
