My guppy fry are three weeks old today :) I was wondering when they'll start showing some color? I had removed the female when I noticed she was having them and put her in her own 'birthing tank'. My observation is that the few of them that stayed in the heated tank grew much faster than the ones I left in the unheated birthing tank -so I've learned that a heater makes a huge difference. (They're all in the heated tank now). I also noticed that the males are much more playful amongst themselves now that she's moved to another tank, making them a whole lot more fun to watch. :dance2:

My endlers start showing color about 4 to 6 weeks and their finnage starts at 6 to 8 weeks

i've read that fry raised in a warmer tank will grow faster but be less hardy. fry grown in a cooler tank will grow more slowly but be healthier overall.

Thanks Ulan for that link - it explained it short and sweet. Watauga, if what you stated is true, then should I move them to a cooler tank, and if so, for how long? I keep my 55 gallon at 79 degrees. Thanks so much for your help guys!

One day you wll wake up and the color will be all there.

i think since you already have them i would just leave them rather than risk a temp drop at this point, but next time keep them all in the unheated birthing tank. probably 6 wks would be good. don't let it be too cold, just room temp like 70-72.

Okay, thanks for the info - I'll keep 'em right where they are. The fry sure are fun to watch though, aren't they? Kinda funny when the adults chase them and it's like 'na-na-na you can't catch me!'
