A few questions for you guys: (I have a 10g tank.)

1.) About the water filter's current that it creates when it spills water back into the tank. Is too much of a current bad/stressful for fish? I look in the tank and see the fish kind of struggling to fight against the current, so I moved it to the very side of the tank, but same thing. I tried raising the water level to kind of make it easier, but it still didn't seem to help.

2.)Where is a good place to get cheap decorations like rocks for a tank? I have some plastic plants in their now... but they seem boring.. and they dont give the fish a place to hide, really.

3.)The same questions with tanks, where are cheap tanks sold at? I'm looking to upgrade to a 20g.

as long as the fish aren't struggling against the current when they're on the opposite end of the tank from the filter, you're probably ok, my fish randomly swim near my water return against the current but then go to a calmer part of the tank all the time

as far as rocks and such, i've found no better place than your lfs, hardware stores might sell calcium based rocks to you which are usually bad

for tanks, i'd go with the classifieds for a bargain or ask your lfs if there are any specials going on or coming up

good luck

Garage sales can be good, but you have to check a lot of them. Sometimes parents want to get rid of the tank before their kids decide to get fish again, so they are priced very cheap.

There are a couple pet adoption nonprofits around here that have one or two sales a year. They have the best prices on tanks, and they DON'T want to have to store an aquarium until the next sale.

If there is a Petsmart near you they will price match if you bring a print out of their online price (often 20-50% less).

you can get rocks anywhere, the cheapest ones are the ones you find outside - just collect what you like, and test each rock by sprinking some regular old vinegar on it. if it foams or fizzes, toss it. it contains calcium which will dissolve in your tank. if there is no reaction they're safe to use. make sure you wash each one thoroughly, of course.
