I heard that if you leave your Refugium lights on 24/7 then your main tank will not have a PH drop during the night or at least not as big of a drop. Also the Refugium growth will be the best with the lights always on. Is this true, or is it a bad idea to have the lights on the refugium on all the time?

no plants need time to convert their carbohydrates into energy to grow. 16 hours at the most

So 12 hours would be a good amount of time for a refugium to have its lights on would you say? And to have the refugium lights come on when the Tank lights go off or that does not matter ether.

That probably won't make much difference. A lot of people like to run them the opposite of their main tank due to night time ph issues but, imho it probably won't matter much either way.

Max, reverse photo-period lighting on the fuge will have positive results if the fuge is 30% the size of the main tank and if the fuge lighting is 3wpg. If the lighting is not high then you are right. No major difference.
