It is largely personal prefrence but there generalt two that are the most popular. The Aquaclear which I would recomend ussually wins as the favorite filter in polls on this site. It has the largest and most versitly media area of any of the HOB filters. For your tank I would get a model 110. Possibly two depending on what your live stock is but considering you have been surviveing with a ugf one should sufice.
The other very popular filter is the Marineland Emperor series. These are the ones with the bio wheel on the front. They use the premade cardiges which you purchase at the store.

I am unthordox aquarist. So I suggest keeping the UGF and also putting a power filter. There ins't a power filter that can match the biolgical filteration an UGF can create.But power filter creates that very important water movement.
NOTE: UGF can turn into a NO3 trap if proper maintenance is done is regular basis. You can reduce the maintenance by putting reverse flow powerhead to the UGF up lift.
