I finally just got my little dwarf puffers and was wondering if they'd get along with cherry red shrimp. I've heard alot of discussion about them with ghosties but not too much about the cherry reds.

It depends on the individual DP. Some do well with shrimp, others eat them. Try a ghost shrimp with yours first, that way if it gets eaten you only lose 30 cents. If they don't kill the ghost shrimp then a cherry shrimp will be fine. :)

yup, my advice is exactly the same as fballguy's. You'll also get the same answer from dwarfpuffers.com. Each dp is an individual, and you wn't know until you try it. I tried ghosties with my dp's and they ignore them (unless they die, in which case they pluck off their legs  ). Now that they've tested "safe" with cheap feeders, from there I think I'll upgrade to amanos or cherries :)

(unless they die, in which case they pluck off their legs  ) For some reason that struck me as hillarious!! :)

Yeah, it was weird (and oddly funny) to me, too! They totally ignore the shrimp when they're alive. But one died and I found it the next morning overturned with its legs completely missing. The rest of it was totally intact... weird little boogers. Maybe the legs were twitching in death throes and they thought they were worms?

Hehe, I'm afraid to add shrimp to my DP tank. They've taken to nibbling anything that gets put into the tank (fingers included), I can only imagine what they'd do to a shrimp!
