I found this out last night while IM'ing Chickieepooh2u. I was able to send her IM's from MSN Messenger and she was replying to me from Yahoo! Messenger. I was using the computer that only has MSN software installed, so it's not like a sleeping Yahoo program was coordinating it. But we were kind of getting glitches on both sides.

Does anyone know about this? How are the two companies connected? Is it just a nice feature to be able to talk to people with either hotmail vs. yahoo addies?

I have MSN but rarely ever use it but I was reading something on MSN about being able to use MSN messinger with a variety of other IM providers cant remember where I herd this or if I read it but I remember seeing it somewhere just the other day.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but there used to be a bar where I grew up called "Inca Hoots". You don't see that term used much anymore. Ok, it's a bit of a stretch so I'll be on my way now.... :dive2:

thanks again, Doug. You're quickly becoming my go-to tech guy! Don't worry, I'm not gonna bug you with incessant PM's.

Monty, I know. I still like using "old school" terms :D

Yeah it was a bit of a shocker. It did explain a few problems I was having signing in with both of them at the same time though. I think it's a cool idea. :)

You could just get trillian and use AIM, Yahoo and MSNM all at the same time. You have to have an account at each, but trillian autoprompts you to the registration screen for each service. It also has a lot of neato features the other ones dont.

I'll definitely look into that! My current system is I have MSNM installed on my bf's laptop, and YM on my desktop. But that would work just as well, if not better. Thanks everyone!
