This question may seem a bit sophmoric to some but if you use Windows Media Player to rip songs off of a CD it comes off in a .WMA format. Is it correct that this format cannot be played by a IPOD or other file-type player? If not, what program is best to convert a .WMA file to a .MP3 format?

iTunes will convert the wmas to AAC for use on an ipod..
but your best option would be to either use WMP to rip to MP3, or rip the CDs with iTunes.

Also, if you can find a free music editing software such as blaze media pro (generally used by amature musicians for editing thier own songs) there is a converter.
