I was wondering if anyone recommends using Stresscoat prior to using IchRid?? I am getting ready to start treatment on my tank and just wondered if anyone would recommend that or just not to bother?

hmmmm... maybe after, but you shouldn't need it before. (I am a beleiver in aloe vera, my mother used it on me as a kid instead of drugs, and I got well twice as fast as using drugs.)

i wouldn't bother with the stresscoat, i don't really believe in the aloe vera or whatnot chemicals.

do a water change before treating with medications, as it is recommended that no water changes be done during dosing.

how big is your tank and what are the inhabitants?

i would really try either raising temperature or using salt bath as opposed to medications.

well, clown loaches are pretty sensitive to salt, so chemical treatment is the best solution for them.

I didn't know he had a thread already about this so i don't know what inhabitants are in his tank.

acutally, because clown loaches are scaless fish, they are extra sensitive to chemical medications. i don't know what IchRid is composed of, but the best route to go is raising of temperature and dosing of salt. although i did read somewhere that the salt may burn the clown loaches, its what most people do anyways for their loaches.

My tank is a 55 gallon. Right now I have to clown loaches which are badly infested, the worst of the bunch. I also have 2 angels, 2 bali sharks, 2 irridescent sharks, 3 guppies, 3 black skirted tetras, 2 lyretails, 3 other tetras (not sure what type offhand) and 3 goldfish that were my original starter fish.
I just want to do this, dreading the days ahead, without damaging the fish any further then what they may already be. I hate losing fish, so depressing.

well, I think they have some scale-less fish safe ich meds on the market; not positive on that, but you should look into it. salt WILL hurt loaches.
