Hey yall :dance2:

Haven't been around lately with plannin my wedding and all but wanted to update ev1 on my fish :)

Even though I was devastated on losing all of my baby fry I am over it now and looking forward to the "new" fry that should be coming along soon.

My green swordtail that was "Due any day" is still "due any day" It's been forever and she still hasnt had her babies she is still getting fat and the gravid spot is still very very visable so her due any day now has turned in to due any week lol Waiting patiently.

My Female Dalmation Mollly is getting bigger everyday and should be getting ready to have her babies soon. :dive2:

My Betta is doing great and it's still quite entertaining to watch him flare at the fake turtle

:( Spoke to soon ... found my betta this morning floating ** not sure what was wrong - water params were fine Ammonia - 0 Nitrite - 0 Nitrate - 5ppm Ph - 7.0 He was fine last night he hasn't been sick or acting strangly so I don't know what the cause was

oh well ......... maybe get another one or try something else in the 10 gallon

I think I read somewhere that even if you have a male betta for a year then you did good. By the time we get them to the American market, they are old and if they live a year in our aquaria then they are considered ancient.(sp. very very old.).

Sorry to hear about your loss. Hope you can figure out what you want to do with that extra 10 gallon tank.

Most of what you find in pet stores and wal-mart are atleast a year old, and usually closer to 1 1/2. The maximum life expectancy of a betta in optimum conditions is about 5 years. The average live expectancy is more like 3. Sometimes if you have them for 6 months you've done a good job, considering the way they're kept. That's why even though you'll pay more, it's sometimes better to go through a breeder, because the sale age of a betta is usually 3-5 months old. And we generally treat them much better :)

Oh no! How long did you have him?

I only had him a couple of weeks - He loved the 10 gallon and his color had became much more brighter than when I first got him and was just beautiful.... He knew when I would life the lid it was feeding time and he would come right up and wait for me to drop in some betta pellets to feed him.....I guess it was just his time to go :(

Still unsure what to put in the 10 gallon - Will figure something out ...

That's what I thought. He probably wasn't doing well when you got him. Unfortunately, betta abuse at stores is all too common.
