It was AWESOME!!!!! The entire town is decked out in Yellow ribbons and Red White and Blue!! Sadly the company wasn't complete. We lost a soldier a few month's ago. The floats carrying the soldier's came by the house about an hour ago, along with about 150-200 Freedom Riders!!! The whole town turned out!!! I'm **** happy to have them home!! Now we just need to have every soldier home!!

Oh sorry, they are a group of motorcyclists. They've been protecting our troops from protestor's. They surround funeral's with flags so the families can mourn without hearing jeers, they also accompany the troops when they come home.

I was wondering if there are any local Freedom Riders - I'll check the web...

you mean to tell me that people protest actual troops returning from iraq? Thats ****ed.
If you are against the war go march in front of the white house and protest the person who sent them there in the first place.
That makes me sick that some *******s will actually act that way towards a group of soldiers returning home for the first time.

It is 'sick'... What's even worse is the "news media" shows all this and makes the enemy even bolder and harms our troops. It seems most of the "media" wants failure. Guess that sells better than success. It would be great if they "visited" the Middle East! What a lesson that would be.

yes...they want us to fail because a victory over there would be a victory for the other side.....and we just can't have that...
And...everyone knows that throwing mud and jeering is far more important than victory.....as long as the present administration is on board anyway...
Sorry..........I think it's wonderful what those freedom riders are doing...and shame shame shame on those who would even consider protesting at a funeral for any reason !!

Regardless where we may stand on the legitimacy of this war, its great to see our young men and women in the services returning home safely, and I grieve for those we have lost. I hold these youth in the highest regard - they are prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice for their country. That's the point of this thread, and I hope we can keep that focus without either position politicizing this thread. God bless these brave soldiers, and may we all find the path to lasting peace in a troubled world.
Have you thanked a soldier lately? If not you should!! http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f400/eperyam/supporttroopsred.gif

I'm a Vet-served 20 years in the Air Force. Served under 5 Presidents: Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush and Clinton. What many "Civilians" may not understand is that even if you don't agree with your Leaders (and many times I didn't!) you still have to carry on and do your job.
Our Troops don't have the easy way out and just walking off the job; they have a Duty to perform; a Duty to their Country and to their Fellow Troops.
We don't do it for the Parades; sure they are nice, but what means the most is a firm handshake and a warm Thank You (that and a Leadership -both elected and the NCO's and Officers) who will do the right thing and make sure we have the tools and equipment needed for the mission.
Hug a Soldier!
