I saw some cool golden rams at the lfs. they are only 1/2 at mo and says they grow to 2 1/4 inch. what are their temperments like. i have a 120 litre community tank with tetras, barbs and few swords. would rams be ok in a community tank. they are very colourful but if there anything like those bloody convict cichlids no thank you very much.

how many tetras, barbs, and swords? rams are generally peaceful unless raising fry.
you could fit a pair in that size tank. They would like a fine aggregate substrate (microgeophagus==tiny earth eater), sandy even.
They are not really cave dwellers--like thickets of plants. With plants that provide cover at all levels of the water column you will see much better activity and behavior from the rams. They will entertain in that environment from the bottom to the top of the water column.

you'd be good for one, but I wouldn't reccomend a pair unless you want ramlets.

i have a pair of yellow rams in my comunity tank with small and large fish. these fish are great until they have babies(eggs), then all hell breaks loose. they keep everything away from the eggs, no metter how big the fish are, they are going to get it from overprotective parents. but no fish got killed during that time, not even my cardinals, or any other fish of that size or bigger, or smaller. my rams were keeping even my big discus away
