Ok How many times has this been asked? Help me with ideas on what to stock in my tank. I'm at the end of a fishless cycle with a 72 bow tank. Plastic plants for now ( many ) two good pieces of drift wood, some good size rocks. I really want lots of color and schooling fish. I was thinking about rainbow fish, say 3 or four Boesemani and 3 or 4 Praecox. I like the Dwarf Neon too. Maybe 10 glo fish. As far as bottom feeders 5 cory aeneus cats. Can i throw in a otto or two to eat any algea or will the corys take care of that.
Other fish I like are rummy nose and blood fin, but not sure if they will fit in. I got a good size tank to have lots of room to stock, but want the idea of more little fish schooling or hanging out ( under 3 inches )
thanks

well, you could get a nice school of congo tetras, they get a little over 3", but they are drop dead gorgeous and you will love them. i'd do a school of about 7-8 in a 75G. i'd reccomend getting 5-6 of either the praecox or boesmani and not both. cories sometimes eat algae, but they are not big on eating algae. if you want a good algae eater in that 72G, try a smaller pleco like a bristlenose. they are excellent, or maybe 2-3 SAEs.

put a gold severum in it and it will contrast with the congos and look great.

go with: 7-8 congos, 5-6 boesmani bows OR 1 gold severum, 9-10 bronze cories, and maybe a pair of either bristlenose plecos or siamese algae eaters. glofish and neons just don't fill out a 72G good unless you get 20+ IMO.

I would add a trio of dojo loaches... These guys are scavengers and they're so much fun to watch! Plus they have cute little faces. :)

i say forget the little fish and get a pair of oscars, a cool pleco and an eelthere'd only be room for one oscar in there. and GG123... she could do that instead of the cories and plecos/SAEs, but if she got 3 they'd be the only thing she could have on the bottom.

you could get a pair of os in a 72 easy, its done in a 55, which i think shouldnt be done tho, and an eel and pleco would stay out of there way.

no, you could not do a pair of oscars in a 72, you'd need at least 100Gs for that. and even if the spiny eel and pleco don't get in there way, they still get just as big and add just as much bioload, which is too much for the tank to handle. 1 oscaor ONLY or some smaller fish like I and others reccomended eariler.

the only time a 55 gallon would work for a pair is if they were breeding, and even then its a risk.

Ok looking good, what congos should look good in the tank? albinos or just the reg ones. How much more room does my tank have if any with the set up of the 8 congos,5boesmani, 9 bronze cories, and a SAE.
thanks

either one is fine, but I like the regs a lot better. I think you'd have room to get 1-2 more SAEs, and you should, as they like to hang out together.

Spotted Raphael!!!!!!!! TWO!!!!!
Rank as one of the coolest fish I've ever kept.one, she'd already have enough in there. if you get a raphael, i'd be the only bottom dweller you could keep.
