I have a 90G tank with 1 blackbelt, 1 GT, and 2 JDs. Everything is good, the water is what it's suppose to be. PH at 7.5, ammoina at 0, everythings perfect. Temp. 78-80. But my fish are like just hanging out at the bottom not really swimming around. They usually swim around my tank and go get the cichlid sticks when I put them in the tank. It's been like this for about 2 days. And then to top it off my Blackbelt jumped out of my tank this morning. I have no idea whats going on. There acting so weird. thanks

that sounds like poor water quality. Fish, IME, tend to want to leave the tank if something's wrong with their water. Hanging motionless also is a sign of stress.

Do you know nitrite levels? Those can be somewhat more toxic than ammonia. Also, how long has the tank been set up?

I was changing the water (about a 15% change) once a week but I haven't changed any water for about 2 1/2 weeks. I've been really busy. I use a gravelvac for cleaning and use a magnet for the alge cleaning.

What type of water movement you got going on? Any meds been added recently?

I would probably start with a good water change/gravel vac if its been 2 1/2 weeks of at least 30%. I know what you mean about being busy and sometimes I have to get up at 5 a.m. to have time to clean tanks but it is crucial to healthy/happy fish keeping. I do a 25% water change at least once a week and twice a week when I end up home for an evening.

I'd do an even larger water change like 40-50% and maybe add some circulation like a bubble wand or a powerhead. a few hours after the water change check the nitrites and nitrates. if the nitrites are high (basically anything but 0) you can add some aquarium salt to help reduce the stress. if the nitrates are high then just keep doing water changes until they come down. I too know what it's like to get busy and skip water changes from time to time. gotta get em done though when your fish start showing signs of stress. :)
