I heard that the Flowerhorn cichlid was a hybred of two other cichlids. What two cichlids are they?

I believe it depends on the strain of flowerhorn. Most people would say trimac x red devil, but I would say more midas than a red devil.
Besides, theres other fish besides trimacs that have flowers down their sides, which could breed nice looking flowerhorns.

Id look up a more specific flowerhorn site. As I understand it, there are more than just 2 species crossed to get the results. (say a trimac red devil hybred crossed with a midas red devil hybred and then crossed again with something else) I dont think you will find an entirely accurate answer, since most breeders will not give up thier secret formulas.

With flowerhorns nowadays, you would have to ask the breeder of the specific fish. Originally, flowerhorn was a hybrid of 3 cichlids. Not sure of what breeds but red devil/blood parrot is definitely one of them. Nowadays, They try use more breeds to produce a wider variety of flowerhorns.

flowerhorns can be a combination of any of the following: trimac, midas, red devil, synspilum, carpintis, cyanoguttatus, festae, among others. there's no way to know for sure what exact species were used to create an individual flowerhorn. only the creators know for sure. :)
