how do you know its male? what kind of food are you feeding it? I have a similar looking one, but it doesn't have that much orange on the tail. does it get more noticable the older it gets?

Is that the start of a hump I see? Nice coloration on him as well!

well for me its way easy to sex a gt since a baby, tail color doesnt mean sex, orange-red-yellow are the most common ones, the white-silver are more expensive and rare to see. please dont start with the discuss of true gt and false i know all that, and have discuss that like a million of times lol. the purple coming out from the hump area doesnt mean that a hump is coming out, purple is the color that most male gts get since little.

pd: some females get purple too but mostly males! lol

I feed variety, whatever is on my shelf like Ken's cichlid pellets, krill, HBH cichlid pellets, Cichlid Gold, Omega One cichlid pellets, NLS, and homemade stuff containing shrimp, salmon, spirulina and beefheart.

roliva... I say male all the way. I have two GT's, one male and one Female. The Doral Fin on your GT is pointed meaning that your GT is a male. Females have a rounded dorsal. Take a look at this thread to see the difference...

BTW, nice GT

but its better by color pattern, females also present pointed finns sometimes.lol  rossawake, the orange color in your gt and all gts get bigger and more remarkable with size :) but its really weird to see gts with white color(white saum variety) on the finns and you cant find one, well you can, but its almost impossible.

looks like rosswakes is a female, males orange color is more striking than a females, plus..theres the whole..its fins are not as pointed..debate..

heres a couple pics of my female, she's about 5 1/2 inches, i have a male too..but no pics of him yet
