Is my Tetra going to be OK?

I have 2 Congo Tetras that have been in a well established tank for over a year. Yesterday one of them started swimming with his nose up, and butt down....about a 45* angle :(

I imagine there is not much I can do to help him?

Poor fishie, I hate when my fish get sick :(
 
Is there anything visibly wrong?

I've had some neon disasters as well :(
 
He looks fine, water is good, and the rest of the fiish and plants are healthy...its just that he has assumed takeoff position.....
 
sounds like a swimbladder problem. What are the nitrates in your tank? I"ve had fish develop swimbladder infections when I was really bad about tank cleaning and water changes.

IME, they're VERY difficult to treat. The most common cause of swimbladder disorders I believe are bacterial infections due to poor water quality. There are other causes, but that one is by far the most prevalent.

With my fish, one died after months of failed antibiotic treatments. The other is still with me, but is still not totally right. This is nearly 2 years later!
 
Hmm. All paramaters are normal, and everyone else is doing good. ( 2 pictus, 1 oto, 2 swords, 2 unknown orange something fish (about 2"), 3 white stripe minnows....in a 55 gallon with a couple live plants.

Now he is leaning a little horizontal...this sucks watching my fish die :( :(
 
Sounds like a swimbladder problem to me too. I had a male molly that had a similar problem, simming on an angle, swimming vertically etc. I tried medications, salt and changed his diet but he never got better and died after about 3 weeks. IMO I wouldn't medicate, chances are he won't make it (sad as that is) and the medications might stress your other fish. That's just my opinion though.
