I got a 40watt satellite with lunar lamp today.

Got it setup, removed all the packaging.

Happy with it so far, and we'll see how the plants do. The lunar light was a surprise as the website didn't spec it as having one, and I'm happy it's not too bright as I think there is a "lunar light madness" amongst people in the hobby that have a buttload of very bright LEDs in their tanks... which are simulating for more than moonlight.... I digress.

Question: The power compact lamp inside the unit came installed with two clips and also two clear rubber bands between the clips. This seemed like a shipping material as the clips seem to hold the light very well. However I wonder if I need to leave those bands on it even during operation? I don;t know how hot it gets until tomorrow, so I guess I might have my answer then.

Thanks!

id not leave the rubber bands in, imo the light shouldnt need them to stay in, if it does then there is a problem, its probably just there to prevent damage from the clips, and the clips there to prevent the light from moving...

IMO they should be left on, basically they're extra insurance to stop the light bulbs falling out of the fixture..

if they weren't needed, why would they sell them separately ?

Ah.... Good point. And they are silicone bands so they can take the heat.
