yesterday i saw my gorgeous male ram flick once or twice and immediately examined and observed him for a good 20 min, there were no signs of stress water params were good, his fins were up, his colors were absolutely prime, and no itch spots or imperfections at all, so i thought, well, i just look at him tomorrow, i got up looked for him and he was hiding under a rock and not looking good as far as behavior, but still no spots or anything, then i had to go to a couple classes and when i got back at noon, he was dead on the bottom, i took him out and looked and still saw nothing, i don't know what went wrong, water is good, and his colors and behavior were textbook a day earlier, now my female was caught flicking and is acting reclusive, i fear the same fate, but there are still no visible signs on her body??? what is a ram lover to do???

help!!!

Sigh...well...if all water parameters are good (I assume you tested nitrates?) and you have been doing your proper and consistent water changes...with no sudden alterations of the source water and no introduction of outside pollutants...then all I can say is something I tell lots of people:

Living things have this strange destiny. They die. All of them.

Often the death is sudden. Especially with "lower" forms of life like fish. In fact it's not uncommon for a fish to be in perfect health one hour and then you turn around a little while later and they're dead. And this will happen to even the hardiest in the most immaculate tanks. Think of this: only a few months ago a seventeen year old girl in my area just up and dropped dead in perfect health. Her heart just simply stopped.

Anyway, Rams are known to be sensitive to environmental changes. It could have been something completely out of left field; or, like many other fish I have known, your fish just simply up and died. Such is life.
