The pond with some Triops
I know i posted this topic before but I don't think anyone answered

neons and black neons with a pleco and a mystery snail.

how many neons, how many black neons? Or is it just recommended to go with only 1 type of tetra...

and can I add anything else?

like i said in my other posts, i don't want ANY bit of stress going on between the black neons and neons... ever since i mixed like, 6 types of tetras with only 3 of each (BIG mistake, of course). And I heard mixing tetras will get them stressed... sooo... will black neons put together with neons get them stressed AT ALL? Even if that means a teeny weeny bit of stress...

*EDIT* hmm.... clams? What do they do? I just found a freshwater clam that's 2-3" long...

can't comment on the tetras, but i'd recomend against the clams. They dont do a whole lot so there not as interesting to have in your tank as you'd think. They are filter feeders so it's tough to know if there getting enough to eat and a big hassle to sublement feed them. (i believe it involves mixing the food with water and useing a long tube, but dont quote me on that) and lastly, since they dont move much it came be hard to tell if they've expired wich can lead to water problems.

Best of luck,

Guzz

Hmm lets see.... 20 gallons?

I would have 5-6 neons and 5-6 black neons or whatever then have a red tailed shark for cleanup.
Oh yeah about the clams, dont bothere they are imossible to feed and are boring, get a mystery snail instead. Or if you insist, get a plastic one.

Forget the clams. They will starve and then by the time you notice that they have died(because they don't move much anyway) your water could have serious problems that will lead to problems with your fish. As far as the black neons and the neons, I would stick to just one kind of neon. It will be less stressful for the fish and it will also look better in your tank to have all the same kind of neons when they school.

Hope this helps.

ok... rule out the clam..

so if it's only one kind of tetras, that makes... 12?

but i like both neon and black neons, just don't want them to get stressed...

how about some mollies, guppies, or platies?
or zebra danios?

if so, how many?

Right heres a good plan:

10 neon or black neon tetras
2 mollies
1 red tailed shark
or
10 neon black whatever lol
4 platys
3 danios
1 red tailed shark

Ulike yes?

so like, i guess i can't mix the tetras then...

i like the plan, thanks! But can you replace the shark with something else? btw, ima get a mystery snail.

now comes another problem (was a topic a while ago)

neons or black neons?

Weather you want black neons or regular neons is a personal choice. I like the black neons myself but it is up to you. Also I would not get a red tailed shark either. They will grow way too large for a 20 gallon tank. Maybe a mystery snail.

that's a good plan except for the shark. DO NOT get a red-tailed shark for that tank. they get to be 6" long and are quite territorial, and a minimum of 40Gs is reccomended. i'd get a bristlenose pleco or a pair of khulii loaches. you can have 5 neons and 5 black neons, or 10 of either. your choice.

ok... i thought that you need at least 6 tetras for them to be happy... i really wanted both... but if not i will get neons. but what about the other fish? and why not guppies? and ten is more than enough to make them happy, right?
