Hey guys. So I went to the Dallas North Aquarium yesterday and was looking for a new child to go into the tank. I have a 50 gallon Bow-Front tank that has store bought decorationg - PetsMart stuff(rocks, plants, etc).

I also noticed they sold driftwood and different types of REAL rock, all at expensive prices. So, needless to say, what rocks do you recommend I put in my tank. I have 6 African Cichlids, apparently mbuna's. I am advised I need to have alot of rocky hiding places for these guys, so that is why I am here. What type of rocks do you guys suggest? Know any places in the Dallas/Plano areas that sell rocks CHEAPLY? Can anyone give me pictures of tanks they really like(setup I mean)?

Thanks in advance

The best thing to do is go to a landscape store. They sell many different types of rocks at VERY cheap prices, definitely more cheap than a LFS. I went with slate because its flat and easy to stack. I got a few labled as "pond rocks" to use for a base, they're just larger, round, and smooth.

Here is a pick on one side of my tank, the other side now has rocks stacked on a ceramic pot:

were you just going to steal a healthy looking one? lol

I use to have natural gravel, then sand, now I have black gravel. Looks much different now.

Love the natural look. My new (hopefully) tank is going to be scaped with sand and as many low light plants as I can afford/grow.

:OT: None of my tanks have decorations outside of real/fake plants, and driftwood.

I vote against keeping children in a tank. Their skin gets wrinkly and they get a cold.
