Of course my new cory additions are diseased from Petco. Iv'e lost 2 of 4 pandas in the past two days and now my albinos are looking sick. I thought is was bacterial fin rot but now because of the fuzzy white appearence I'm thinking it could be Columnaris which is gram-positive no? I've begun treatment with Maracyn-Two but I'm realizing that this is only for gram-neg. Sholud I treat with Maracyn simultaneously? My perameters are great - 0,0,>10. Whatever this is it only takes about a day to kill the fish. Also one of my remaining pandas has a very disturbing symptom, his eyes seem to be collapsing in to his head! Any suggestions would be great.
Notice the white raggedy appearence:

are these in a hospital tank??
I'd guess the fish were infected when you got them.

were they quarantined? if it is columnaris..I understand it is highly contageous.

Oh, no. :( I know, but my 10 gal Q tank was unintentionally cracked by a well meaning toddler..... :o Don't flame me Star!! I didn't have anywhere else to put these guys. So the answer is no. My Angels look fine right now btw....

Boo.... looks like cloudy eye on the last pic..... the only real cure that I have found is meticulous water changes and a pristine tank..... the chance of surviving the diease 50/50.....

Hmmm, it does doesn't it? I think that may be the flash reflection because his eye look very black like coal. Not really whitish or cloudy. Does this disease make the eye sink in? I've been doing 30% wcs every three days and the water is clear and perams are very good. What do you think about the pics of the albino?

boofish,

I don't flame people unless they ask for it ;) and you have never asked for it.

I'm glad your angels are better.

now lets try and get the cory's better.

columnaris can be treated with maracyn (per mardels guide) maracyn.
my understanding of columnaris is that it is a bacterial infection.

columnaris can infect internally and externally..

there are also other meds recommended depending on what you read.
but dangerdoll could also be onto something.

either way clean water can only help.

I'm on top of the clean water thing, did a wc last nigh in fact.....

I'll go out and get some Maracyn and treat the tank with this as well -
Bigger tanks = higher doses of medication = $$$$ huh? lol.....
Oh boy.......

the only problem with melafix ..is it is mild(they are effective) but when you get an all out infection, especially bacterial..you need to treat with an antibiotic.

boofish..yes..it will take more meds but on the plus side you may be interveneing on the infection before other healthy fish are affected.

keep an eye on the bio-filter..I have used maracyn with no ill effect on my bacterial filter but you stil need to make sure...afterall it is an antibiotic.
