The pond with some Triops
Ok... the veggies you feed plecos... would it be similar to what you feed to snails? If so, how do you prepare it... boil? List step by step instructions, please. If not, still, instructions please :)

1. slice, tear, etc. 2. attach to clip 3. put in tank. there is no special preperation, just plop the veggies in and watch it eat. :)

I blanch my veggies. Many snails (the ones that dont' eat live plants) aren't powerful enough to get at fresh, firm veggies. Some people just leave the produce in their tank until it softens. But that can take a night or even more. So the blanching softens it right away. Blanching is just cooking in boiling water. I"ll put everything into a microwavable container filled with water, nuke it for 2 minutes or however long it takes until it's soft. Then I stab it with a fork to weigh it down, and leave it in overnight.

I've found my snails like a bit of blanched zucchini. I cut it into thin strips then zap it in the microwave for 1 minute on high. Sometimes my Bristlenose's will eat the vegies raw but my snails only go for the cooked stuff. As plah said ovenight is good.

thanks... Do you really need to get a clip or stab the fruit/veggie with a fork? I mean, it sinks on its own, right? or does it float... So I put veggie in water, nuke it for 2 min? then just plop it in?

blanching (boil for 30-60 secs) also kills any fungus that may be on the veggies, which can harm your fish. i cut my zucchini in half from end to end and across the middle, then weight it down with butter knives or some spare allen keys.

yeah, most veggies do float. Stabbing it or clipping just helps keep it in place, too, for the slow snails :)

I would recommend taking the produce out after the night because longer than that and it starts to rot, eww!
