Well, I will soon be the proud owner of a pair of Gold Lyretail killifish. I was wondering what you guys would recommend as a suitable tankmate(s?) for these two. What would compliment them well?

Thanks for you input. :)

no offense, fishluver, but those charts are pretty useless and almost made me make some bad decisons... and as JM said, golden wonders are real predators. i've seen them munch things up to half their size. if I were you, i'd just keep the pair in there and that's it.

fine  hmph. okay whatever. but i DO love the bio on the killies on their webpage!

The golden lyretail sounds like it should be a gold/orange form of A. australe, right? Probably not Epiplatys or Pacypanchax like the golden wonder. I just got some chocolate australe at the last auction I went to.

Most killie keepers use smalll tanks 2-1/2 or 5 gallons. But you don't have to. Depending on their size when they arrive, treat them like you'd treat a livebearer - except that they are usually from softer water, so you won't do anything to make your water harder or saltier. Make sure you've got floating plants or spawning mops for them to hide in.

Even though they're built for surface feeding, they do seem to range throughout the tank.

Who did you get them from?

I got them from a breeder who I referenced from the AKA website. And yes, the Gold Lyretail is in fact an A. australe.

Coool! I was afraid you got them from F&S because you had that link. It's a LOT cheaper to get them from one of the AKA folks like you did!
