I was just wondering if I could feed rhubarb to my clown plecos? I'm all out of zhuchini and cucumbers but I have lots of rhubarb.

i would think so. It's like celery, right? So it's not acidic (sour), which I don't think plecos would enjoy and might affect your pH a tiny bit.

lol, my only experience with rhubarb is in strawberry-rhubarb pie.

From that page you linked, it says something about toxic effects and very sour leaves. I've never seen or eaten fresh raw rhubarb, but that part doesn't sit right with me. Perhaps someone with more experience with this vegetable can chime in.

Only the leaves with rhubarb are toxic. Farmers won't even feed them to their animals. Animals, even pigs, won't touch them.

Personally I would be doubtful that they would eat it, as it is rather a "different" vegetable. But I guess why not give it a try. You never know.

Be sure to let us know what happen. Good Luck.
