Generic tubing/hoses in the tank.

I heard using tubing from say Lowes or Home Depot isn't recommended in the tank.

Forget where but I read the hoses from hardware store aren't treated (or finished / sealed) the same as Aquarium grade stuff and that tends to leave a layer of film on the top of the water.

Thats true?
 
If you use the ones that food grade or the one that will be used for a refrigerator , then it shouldnt be any problem. I have used clear hoses from
home depot before and never had a problem with them. Ill try to do more research on this though.
