Well congratulations on an "old find." I would just put a male betta in your tank and maybe a couple of cory cat. I am not too sure how a snail would do with a Betta. I do not know if he will pick on it or not. I am sure someone else can advise you on that. Enjoy your hobby again!:)

I see you found buried treasure, bettas don't eat snails,i think no fish can be mix with the betta that will eat snails.

My mother has kept a snail with a betta. The betta will occasionaly bother the snail but the snail seems to be in good health. The betta seeme to be more "pearky" (not flaring just livelier) since she added the snail.

I had a ramshorn snail with my male betta and he liked the snail....then he started making bubble nests on the fake plant i put in there...i also put 3 guppies in there and lasted almost a month!those lil buggers were fast!so i can put cory cats in there with a male betta?

Wow! Nice Find!

A agree that a Betta would be great, maybe even with a snail!

Although, I would suggest you throw away the water conditioners and start fresh. A lot of these products (and many others) tend to go bad, and it's horrible to find out they aren't working when it results in a dead fish.

Good luck :)

Bettas may eat snails

Bettas may eat snails.

A few minutes ago I just saw, for the first time ever, a betta doing so.

A sickly pet shop betta was audibly snapping at a red ramshorn snail's shell, until it managed to turn it over. In one swift movement, the betta sucked the snail out of its shell.

It was strangely engrossing to see how the spiral part of the snail's body, sticking out the betta's mouth, uncurled like a party blowout everytime the betta chewed.
