What size heater would I need for a 5 gallon tank? would I be better off getting a 25 watt or 50 watt heater?

Thanks.

TN is right, 25 watts it the way to go, my friend.

would it be possible to use a 50 watt heater in there?

I've been wondering a similar question actually.

you could use a 50 watt..but it's a wee bit on the overkill side of things.

the only thing I would be concerned about is is possible roblems with short cycling' the thermo couple.

It depends on the room temperature of where you are keeping the aquarium in... If it very cold (eg: 50F, I'm not sure where), a 50W should do it, as a 25W wouldn't be able to maintain that large of a temperature difference. Most usually, a 25W would do fine for a 5G aquarium.

Just keep in mind the room temperature that the aquarium will in.

I use a 50 W heater in my 5 gallon and it works nicely. I had a 25 W heater before but it was always either too hot or too cold so I had to return it. Perhaps it was just that particular model of the heater or the brand, but I had better luck with the 50 W.

How many watts for a 29 gallon?
