Yesterday my local Petland had Stendker Discus for sale, I thought Discus Han was picky about who they distributed to. This is the same store that had a marine breakout of ich and still sold someone a marine fish. The Discus looked really nice, except the 2.5 inch Malboro Reds were all peppered. Is that normal for the young ones? Should you ever buy a peppered Discus?

peppering comes from their environment as a whole, so i wouldnt say never. they may just be under strong lights, or even harder water. the petland in MN off whitebear ave sells discus too. they are all small because they dont sell, they just die. i see them trying to mix them all together with angels and farlowells and more plecos and everything winds up dying in the tank. when a discus dies it has a HUGE impact on the tank. more than any other fish
