replace fish?

The pond with some Triops
This past 2 days, 3 neons died and 1 of my bully went away.

can I replace these by buying 4 more neons?
I mean, for my biological filter...

like, would it matter, since my new neons would "replace" the fish waste created from the original group?
 
why did you lose 4 neons in the first place? If there is an issue with the tank, it seems that is the thing you should be concentrating on rather than replacing fish.

how long have they been gone from the tank? Have you been testing the water?
 
i lost 3.

one whirled around and died.

another got killed by my bully

the last one, i have no clue. he was just on the gravel, dead.

the only issue there was, was the bully, which is gone now.
 
did you test the water? You might want to return the pleco too.... he's no match for that tank, even short term. I would be more concerned with why they died than replacing them. Is the tank cycled?

Ammonia, nitrite 0 (duh!)

nitrate is kept below 10

i know about the pleco but right now, but he's the most helpful (and he's cleaning my snail shell too lol)...
 
Just because you show these fish in your signature, this doesn't necessarily mean your tank is cycled. There are plenty of people who run out, get the tank and dump in the fish on the road for a fishy cycle.

That said, I'm surprised with this mmuch knowledge, you would be interested in filling the empty spots instead of finding out why the fish died in the first place. Evidently something is wrong.
 
lol, I would listen to the lady bro. There is most something going on in that tank. Mass numbers of fish don't just die for no good reason. Take it easy if you want advise from people here.
 
well i heard that it can be the store's fault...

3 neons are a mass?

*ahem* 2 neons (from the fact that one was killed by the bully)?

the first neon did the whirly thing (which many of new tetras seems to do before they die... and like, they're pale)...

the last neon laying on the floor is the only thing i'm worried about.
 
I would consider two unknown causes of death a mass. It would for sure spark my interest in finding out what was going on in the tank. I certainly wouldn't jump down on someone for asking about it. Seems like a very fair question to me.
