Used Purigen, have a look at my tank now

well i bought purigen yesterday and didnt think it could clean up my tank as much as i wanted it to.

about 4 hours after i put it in i saw a difference, then i woke up this morning and it was totally different, if anyone needed a reason to buy this stuff all you need to do is look at the before and after pics. and it can be reused as well how cool is that.

I would be upset if my water wasn't yellow.

But then again I'm a blackwater enthusiast. :duh:

That being said, I'm not sure I would do well to use this product? It might remove some of the desirable tannins.

I'm also not sure if I want nitrate being chemically removed in a heavily planted tank. Thoughts?

my water was yellow becasue of driftwood, but it had been that colour for about 6 months with weekly water changes, so i figured it wasnt gonna go away anytime soon, so i bought purigen to get rid of it.

It doesn't remove nitrates in the way you think. it pulls dissolved organics out of the water.

If you want,think of it this way:

There are 2 types of cholestrol in your body, good and bad.

There are 2 types of nitrates in the tank, good and bad.

Purigen removes the bad.
