I have a 5 inch female JD in a 55G tank by herself. She has layed eggs twice in the last 2 mouths. The problem is that what ever fish I put in there she kills in like an hour. She killed my 3 inch male red devil, a female firemouth, and a 5 inch male convict. I was wondering if I got her a 4 to 5 inch male JD if she would try and kill him. I was thinking that if I did that she might pair off with the male JD. I'm wanting to have a pair. Dos anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Maybe you could try a divider for a while. Then once she is used to another fish being in there..take it out.

To echo the previous post, a divider would be your best bet. JD's can be very fussy with tankmates, my advice is to get a larger male that way he can take anything she can dish out. With JD's take caution as courtship can kill one or the other as they are "testing" each other.

I would put a few male JDs in there (When there are NO eggs) Let her pick one to mate with. Get rid of the others.
If you find a large male you might only need one. If he is the alapha right off she might take to him.
Good luck.

The posts above about the devider is a great idea aswell. I would shoot to pair her off. You will have an easyer time getting rid of juv JDs at a LPS then convicts.
