home alone

I have just been given a 30 gallon by a friend, who no longer wanted it.
I was thinking of keeping a single cichlid in this tank and was wondering what fish best fitted the criteria.{if any}and what is the maximum sized fish to keep in this aquarium.
I am open to suggestions.

If you wanted something larger you could go with a pair of convicts I personally would plant it and have a couple of rams or apistos and some tetras.
