I have 5 Pristellas in a 5 gallon tank, and was thinking about a snail to help on the cleanup a bit. I've never had a snail before, but I always oogle at them in the LFS. xD

Anyway, I've heard about the crazy reproducing these little guys do, and was wondering was kind of snail would be appropriate and if it would be possible to just have one to avoid overpopulation? o_o

Sure, just get a "mystery" aka brig apple snail. They need 2 to reproduce and even if you get 2 and they do lay eggs, they lay them above the waterline and are easily removed. They do like to eat veggies too. I feed mine apple, cucumber, zucchini, potato and peas. They love it!!

just buy any kind of snail, and it should not reproduce by itself, unless it originally had eggs. like my pond snail. so now i just have one snail... and make sure you know how to take care of them!
