I have a 2.5 gallon fry tank, so would it be fine to have about 3 snails and some fry? Are snails a big bioload? If not, how many could I fit with the fry?

I breed ramshorn snails in a 5 gal to provide snacks for my loaches. This works great, just be sure to keep good water quality. My snails are breeding like rabb....snails.

It depends on what kind of snails you are talking about. A single p. bridgesii would be "okay." P. canaliculata gets too big, and has way too much bioload for a 2.5. Spixis stay smaller than brigs and 1 would do pretty good in a 2.5 with a few fry growing out now and then. A colony of common ramshorns, ponds or MTS would do fine. You could also house a group of cherry shrimp or ghost shrimp in a 2.5.

OK, can I add some ghost shrimp to my snail 5 gal? I can't imagine it would hurt.

I have a black mystery snail. My local petsmart has like gold, ivory, black, and somethingelse mystery snail. A couple of those would be fine with some fry?

I also breed red ramshorn snails in a 5g tank. When I bought ghost shrimp they gave me twice as much as I asked for, so I put about 4 in with my snails. I don't know what happened because all the shrimp did great, except for the few in with the snails. There was plenty of food for both the snails and the shrimp, the water was fine, yet the shrimp sadly did not make it. From my experience I would advise against it, but maybe I just had bad luck. You could always give it a shot.

I wouldn't want to rish the huge financial investment of ghost shrimp if they won't make it. LOL

A mystery snail will be too big for a 2.5

I noticed you bleed Seahawks. I bleed Vikings. How is Nate Burleson working out? BTW, I think Daunte still wants to be a Viking:

Burleson got bumped out of the lineup by Branch and D.J. Hackett, but he's our punt returner now and returned 1 for a TD last week and won us the game.

:D They are practically giving them away. I know the majority of them are used as feeders. So I feel good having given some a life of leisure.

snails are huge poopers, so you'll have to keep the gravel and water quality good for your frys. i'd say a mystery snails would be OK for a 2.5G.

im looking for some ghost shrimps in my area but i can't find any at all. only Petco's carry shrimp around me, which is the amanos and fan shrimp and they are 2.60 and $6 a pop, respectively.
