Thats not what I asked though. I have had similar setups before and had no problem. and why is there a problem with me having a goldfish tank?

Andrew, you are not playing fair; from the mod panel, I noticed you edited your sig after my post and before your new one. You had a 3" goldfish listed in your signature before.
In your OP, you asked did anyone see any problems. I commented as requested. The lighting issue was a secondary issue/question.

Yes your right. The goldfish have been moved and i forgot to edit my sig until you let me know. My lighting is a big concern. as of now ive own gotten two 12" lights on an old magnetic ballast. I want to upgrade but want to know if i am going overboard

you should be ok, but on a 45gallon tank you can just use two 48" a blue in the front and a brighter white one right behind it, if your going the diy rour this will help your costs since ballists normaly push two lights each so you will only need to buy one ballist if you want three you mayaswell go with 4, that would be overkill, algae city... have fun.

i cant use 48" bulbs my tank is only 36".. so should I use maybe one blue in the middle and two white 36"
