Just recently I noticed my male betta's gill cover has been terribly inflamed. The scales are jutting out and its so inflamed it looks like he's handicapped by it.
I added Maracide to his 2.5 gallon, and just did a 100% water change.
Uh, what could it be? I'll have pictures up soon ( when the bugger stays still )

Gill flukes? After a certain time, the swelling of gill lamellae may be irreversible.

Here is a bad picture I got. The side is obviously jutting out, but I've just noticed the inflammation today.

The green is maracide. I 'm still deciding on Salt bathing. After the second day I'd noticed his not moving in one corner I waterchanged and inspected him under the lamp. Previously he's had a giant wihte lump jutting from his head...oh boy. x.x He is quite an old guy.
