What is your favorite type of fish and why?

I haven't kept a TON of different kinds, but I fell in love with my irridescent sharks many years ago. They kept growing and I kept upgrading - no one told me (before the internet) they would grow so large. I had them for upwards of 10 years before they passed.

These days of course I love bettas because of their wonderful personalities and beautiful colors. I enjoy watching them interact with each other through the divider, and also as they play in the bubbles and other ornaments and plants. I think I also love bettas in part because of how mistreated they are simply because they CAN survive in terrible conditions. I wish I could save them all.
 
Slow baked flounder stuffed with crab and shrimp in a mild cheese sauce.

How do Cories and tetras taste? I like keeping my bumble bee gobi, he has such personality
 
I love cichlids. They have bright colors and interesting personalities.
 
Dwarf cichlids and corydoras would be at the top of my list. Recently I got a group of 6 pearl gouramis, all about 2-1/2" long, and I'm impressed with them. They seem to be a fish that's more interesting when you've got more than one or two in a tank. I can't wait till they get large enough to breed.
