If i wait a 24 hours then am i able to put fish in without putting the water in the tank and letting it soak for weeks. Basically are there any chemicals that would leak into the water for the silicone. If not is it ready for fish.

if you used aquarium safe silicone and it has dried per instructions...you should be fine. I would just recommend washing the aquarium out to make sure any residue from the cleaners has been removed.

PLEASE PLEASE PUT WATER IN THE TANK WITH YOUR FISH.

All joking aside. I wait 48 hours before I run water in a repaired tank. I don't trust the 24 hour thing. While this may not be needed I go with my better judgment.

I find silicone still smells strongly (like vinegar) after only 24 hours. After 48 hours, the smell is gone. I'd give it at least 48 hours before getting it wet.

although silicone would techinally be dry after 24 hours, i would wait a full 72 hours for the silicone to cure and the bonding strength to be optimal.

i agree, becuase even after the 48 hrs, i can still smell the vinager slightly... though when used to make decorations, i can still smell it slightly after the 48 hr, i have put it in the tank with no ill effects
