My guppy fry seem small for how big at what age they should be. They are each around half an inch in length, and have no color at all yet. I have 7 of them in a 2.5 gallon minibow with an undergravel filter and a submersible hagen elite filter. They get fed once a day, small crushed up flakes. Is this a normal size or not really?

depends on temperature and how much you feed them. They will grow fast around 78 deg.

In my experience with livebearer fry...

Be sure the temperature is at 78-82 for optimum growth. You should also be feeding 3 or 4 times a day and doing daily water changes being that the tank is so small. Too much waste accumulation will inhibit growth, and with the necessary multiple feedings, there will be even more waste to deal with. They do sound small for their age.

OK I have figured out the perfect formula for getting them to grow. I set the temp to 80-82, feed crushed up flakes 5 times a day, and change water every 2 days. By doing all this, mine reach 1 inch in about 5 weeks. Feeding 5 times a day is probably a bit much, 3 would do just fine, but guppy fry totally digest their food in about 20 minutes, so frequent feeding are a must IMO. Make sure you get the heater set to at least 78, they will not grow in coldwater hardly at all. And make sure you change the water often. If not they will probably become stunted.

Ok.

In my 2.5 gallon, would it be fine to do water changes a few times a week or around 3? Is it fine if I only gravel vacuum once a week though?
