I took 60 gallons of old water tho the new house and have 30 gallons of new water mixing. fish and half my live rock(50 lbs) are in a 30 gallon with a powerhead and heater. there is an inch and a half of sugar sand in the tank with just enough water to cover it. will scoop it out with a net tomorrow before mover gets here to move it.are there any other important things to do? the tank is 120 gallons btw.

soulds like you have the same task I had....your doing ok so far. dont let the LR touch air

LR can be exposed to air but only for short periods of time. Transfering it to a large rubbermaid trashcan (new) and haveing a buddy help move it would probably be your best bet.

Sounds like your doing awesome! I went from two 40 gallons & a 85 to 210... I remember it was so crazy....But so much fun :) Be sure to post a pic or two along the way please.

much of my live rock will have sat in pails full of saltwater at room temp for close to 48 hours by the time I get it back in the tank, will it still be live by then?

mostly, I'd say you MIGHT have a mini cycle. So, just keep an eye on your params

I would keep the room temp high or buy some cheapy heaters just to be safe. But most of the bacteria should live just not sure on pods and other little creatures.

Sounds like you have it covered.. As a point of reference, I moved about 100 lbs of LR by wrapping it in newspaper, bagging it in plastic bags and transported it in covered Rubbermaid containers. It stayed that way for about 15 hours. Once I refilled my tank (i saved about 20% of my original water) and everything had a chance to settle for a week, I still had my hitch hiker feather dusters, a few zoas, pods and macro. I never noticed any die off except a few pods and I never even had a noticeable ammonia spike. It worked really well for me. The only thing I moved in water was the livestock ( a few fish and corals).
