Is it safe to add boiling, or just-below-the-boiling-point water to your tank,
with regards to all things alive?

I do not mean that I would pour the boiling water on them directly. I am wondering about the physics of the very small bubbles, and how gills work.

With common sense applied, will I harm anything,or anyone?

A stand alone yes or no answer is all I need.
but the physics also interest me......

DON'T DO IT.

even if the live things (what exactly) do not get hit directly you don't wont the sudden change in temp. Secound what if one of them get hit by the high temp water before it changes to match the temp of the tank. Not a good idea as the temp will linger for a little while before it displaces to the rest of the water.

DON'T DO IT PLZ PLZ PLZ.

Not to mention the bubbles in boiling water are made up of live steam. Boiling or boiled water has less oxygen than regular tap or room temp water. I gotta hope this is a joke. If you pour boiling or near boiling water in your tank, you're not keeping fish, you're making soup.

I couldnt agree more, do not do this to your fish (which I think you are probrably just asking and not with the intention of doing so...I hope)

I dont think that bubbles themselves, regardless of size, would have much impact on the fish at all. For example, people use bubble curtains (airstones) in their tanks all the time and fish can swim in and out of the bubbles. Also, I have had some issues in the past with my skimmer basically filling the tank with millions of microbubbles and nothing happened that time either.

However, the temp of boiling water would kill any fish or plants in a tank since water boils at around 210 degrees (if I remember that right, it has been a while since I have been in a science class.) Think of it this way...what would happen if you filled up your bathtub with boiling water and you were in it. It would first hurt and then most likely kill you if not from the burns, from the secondary infections and problems that burns tend to lead to.

Looks like I need to explain myself here. I do not intend to harm my fish, it was a question that I am happy to have had answered for me. No fish soup tonite.
sorry about the shock.
