I have a quick question since I had that ich outbreak in my tank my sister suggested that I remove everything clean all things in the tank and change all the water. What I am wondering is can I do this will this also remove some ich? and can I just put the one fish in a bucket for a short period of time while I do this? or what should I do?

I believe ICK is on the fish.....not in the water or on your items. I mean yes ICK does get into the water once they hatch....but the eggs are on the fish (white dots) so you can clean the heck out of your tank...but if the fish have it....putting them back in bring ICK into the tank again.

Have you tried any of the regular ICK processes?

Salt and or heat is the best for treatment of ich, IMO. Due to the life cycle, and especially the cyst stage, treatment should be for 3 weeks.

Here is a reference thread for a newbie handling ich and the reference treatment articles....

taking the fish out and rearranging the tank would probably be a bad idea imo because it will stress the fish, who is already stressed, weaker than usual, and recovering from infection. it may lead to a recurrence of disease or make the fish more susceptible to something else.

well I just did a normal water change and noticed that there is a spot on the fishes top lip it looks like food but its not... is it the ich thats back or could it be something else now?

What meds have you been using?

Can you post a picture?

What temp. Is your water?

What are you using for the treatment?

What type of fish?

Is there charcal in your filter?

These questions need answered so we can help you faster. Your water chemistry would also be usefull.
