hi fishclan. I invested in a purple foot anemone, anyway thats what the LFS sold it as. This is a must for any colourfull tank. Mine basically opened as soon as it hit the water. At the LFS I couldnt it didnt even bare a single tenticle. Anyway my clowns appreciates it almost more than me. Does anyone keep these anemones?

LOTS of anemones are purple in color. It could be one of many species. If you don't have a pic, save a pic of a similar on your computer, go to tinypic.com, and paste the link for forums here. It'll show as a picture after you submit!http://i15.tinypic.com/47ilp1d.gif

404 not found... did you try tinypic? Here's an example, and it doesn't use any of this site's bandwidth.

are you saying that that anemone in the link provided is the one you have? it looks like a Heteractis Magnifica (magnificent anemone or rittiri anemone). If so then it wasnt a good impulse buy (as most turn out not to be). they have a very low survival rate even in the "best" of tanks. they also get ginormous

Ginormous and burn anything in the area :shark:

And yes, extremely tough to keep.

Crap, that looks like a ritteri, as stated. Can you get a picture of your actual anemone up? If you have a pic, just PM me your email addy and I'll post it for you. I wouldn't even worry about it's potential future size right now, IF that's what you have, it's not going to live and could do it's share of damage in the meantime. But you may have posted a different specimen than what is in your tank. I can't (necessarily) identify it, but it looks like someone here probably could.
Good luck, and I'll be glad to host the picture...

That is beautiful. I hope you can keep it alive. I just bought one for my clownfish yesterday and I hope I can keep it alive for his sake, he loves it. I posted a picture a few minutes ago. The post is "Happy clown".
