I've never tested the general hardness of my water before last night. I'm not much into breeding or keeping difficult species of fish so it never mattered much to me. So I took two samples (one from the hot tap, one from the cold) of water to a friends house and tested it. To my surprise it was only about 100ppm. I expected it to be up around 300 ppm or more. It's nice though, because water is generally easier to harden if needed than it is to soften.
