Okay, I've made up my mind. How many cory cats can fit in a thirty gallon?

ILOVEBETTAS

It's Cory Lover's cat!
How many can fit in a thirty gallon if there are no other fish? I mean cories that grow 2-2 1/2 inches.

For those of you who can't read lol,

THIS long: ---------------------- at the most

How many???

Oh gosh... I put it in the wrong section AGAIN

Or maybe this is considered general freshwater...

Oh well... I'm stupid.

Hello again? Hello? Am I talking to myself here?

Woah, you need to give people a chance to read and reply. Folks don't live on the forums 24/7.

What are the dimensions on the 30 gallon tank? The answer of how many cories differs if we're talking a normal 30 versus a tall 30.

I think you could fit at least 2,000 in there if you pressed down hard!

Seriously, you seem very concerned with fitting the maximum number of fish into the tank in so many of your threads... Find a good number for a school (if the fish in question is schooling) and give them more room and better water quality.

I don't think you're stupid. If I follow the "one inch per gallon" suggestion, I might keep a school of 12 at 2.5" each, or a school of 15 at 2" each, in a 30-gallon tank.

Here's what I consider to be "stupid":

(1) - According to this, one could keep 16 at 2" each in a 10G (20"L x 10"W) tank. I disagree.

(2) - According to this, one could keep 12 at 2" each in a 10G (37.85411784 liter) tank, selecting "External" (Filtration Type). Again, I disagree.

Here's the best calculator I've seen so far. According to this, one could keep 6 at 2" each in a 10G (20"L x 10"W x 12"H) tank, selecting "High" (Activity Level), "Grazing"/"Omnivore" (Diet and Feeding), "Peaceful" (Aggression), "Near Cover"/"Bottom" (Habitat), "Normal" (Shape), "Brown, Tan or Cream" (Color), and "Shoal/School" (Social). I personally feel that happy, healthy Cory cats should fall under the "High" (Activity Level) category rather than "Moderate". They do spend some time resting, but a lot of time swimming, playing and looking for food.

The "one inch per gallon" suggestion translates to 5 at 2" each in a 10G tank - closest to the results from the third calculator.
